In the early 90s the Associations of Social Insurance Institutions in Europe established a group of forums to promote trans-national cooperation at European level in the three traditional areas of social insurance: health, accidents at work and pensions. The so-called Euroforums are: the European Social Health Insurance Forum, the European Forum of Insurances against Accidents at Work and Occupational Diseases and the European Pension Insurance Forum.
The task of the Euroforums is to coordinate the concerns of social insurance general managers, develop approaches with a European impact and to communicate these to decision makers at national and European level according to the principle of subsidiarity. Under rotating national presidencies the Euroforums come together in regular plenary meetings and in specialist working groups. Two of these groups, the Social Insurance Netlinks (SINET) Committee and the Medicine Evaluation (MEDEV) Committee are hosted and coordinated by ESIP. |
