EPSCO Council conclusions regarding information to patients welcomed by over 20 healthcare stakeholders
In a press release issued following a joint stakeholder meeting on 11 June, ESIP along with over 20 organisations representing key healthcare
stakeholders – patient groups, family and consumer bodies, social security systems, and health
professionals welcomed the conlcusions of the EPSCO Council of 8-9 June as regards the Commission's legislative proposals on information to patients. The stakeholder organisations share the serious concerns expressed by the Health ministers as regards the Commission's proposals to allow pharmaceutical companies to provide information directly to consumers on their prescription only medicines. In addition, the stakeholders call for a reallocation of responsibilities for pharmaceuticals within the new Commission.
