The EUROPEAN SOCIAL INSURANCE PLATFORM (ESIP) association was the first trans-national organization of its kind to address the challenges of the single market directly in Brussels. Much useful networking has been done, not only between the ESIP's member organizations and the European institutions but also in relation to other key players operating in the field of social protection. Many issues have been brought together, office partnerships established and vital questions actively and openly debated. Thanks to these efforts a number of other organizations have opened European offices or even set up their legal headquarters at the Rue d'Arlon 50 premises in Brussels. This new framework which, since 1997, has been called the MAISON EUROPÉENNE DE LA PROTECTION SOCIALE, highlights the importance of the social dimension of European integration.
